March, the month of St. Patrick’s Day, has always seemed a good time to celebrate being Irish…or Irish at heart! And when I discovered a little nugget about Jane Austen and her novels, one thing led to another… So what’s Jane Austen got to do with Ireland’s Pirate Queen?
How great that you found your "Irish voice" for writing! Loved "The Thistle & Shamrock;" listened to it every week. I read a book on Grace O'Malley several years back, gifted to me by my Irish-American dad-- I think I read somewhere there's a new book out on her? So interesting, but made me wish I'd done more than a cursory pass at learning Irish pronunciation. I'm today years old when I learned how to say her name correctly-- so thanks for that!
Love this article and so glad we got some relevant photos on our trip to western Ireland. Westport was one of my favorite stops on that trip. For those of you who are reading this; Grace O’Malley actually got to meet Queen Elizabeth I, and lived to tell the tale.
The Irish Issue: Jane Austen and the Pirate Queen & Writing Irish
Oh, P.S. Have you read Jane's "Juvenilia" collection? She was finding her sharp comedic voice already as a young adolescent.

Love hearing new stories from you about your childhood/teen years <3
Thank you for the sweet compliment! As you see, I spent most of my youth reading <3
