My goodness! Reading this made me happy that all I have to contend with are raccoons and deer.

I'm quite delayed this month in reading and I can BEARLY believe what has been happening (sorry, had to).

I know the first half of your summer was crazy busy…Can you say, “Moving to a new house”!! Yes, we BEARLY got through those weeks of bear visits!!

I'm so anxious for your garden, now that the bear views it as the land of plenty! Are there things you can do, like scent deterrents, to encourage the bear to go away without harming it?

As far as reading goes, I rely on audiobooks and podcasts during the summer months, and listen while I work outside. I flip between audiobooks as the mood strikes. Currently listening to: "My Farming Life," Emma Gray; "An Irish Country Doctor," Patrick Taylor. Did my annual re-read of Jane Austen by audiobook this year, and enjoyed it far more than I expected. Probably the most delightful audiobook narration ever was Nancy Mitford's "The Pursuit of Love," narrated by Bessy Carter.

I loved hearing about your summer audio reading/podcasts! How wonderful you’re getting through so many books. I’m going to look into “My Farming Life” and the others you mentioned…I actually got a ton of Irish idioms for my novels from one of Patrick Taylor’s books!

Thank you for your concern, Erin! We haven’t seen hide nor hair of the bear for a couple of weeks…We had to leave for a long weekend to see family, and I was so anxious it would get into the blueberry patches while we were away…but whew, the nets were intact 😊 I’m hoping the native bear yummies like Indian plum and Pacific bitter cherry are filling its tummy!
